To learn about methodology, read la section phpversion. 35.1 millions servers hosted on 2.1 millions IP were surveyed during August, and 13.1 were used for stats : domaines without web sites, those unreachable, ISP, shared hosters or domain parkings were not considered.

PHP 4.4.8 still cling to its top rank, saving its crown for a small advantage. PHP 5.2.6 is actively converting PHP 5.2.5 users, and both are now following closely the leader. We should see a very different landscape next month.
PHP major version distribution[^]
This graphic represents the PHP major version distributions : 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
PHP 5 reaches 42,40% of the whole PHP market, with an almost 2% increase since last month.
Besides PHP 4, all other major version are negligeable.
PHP 4/5 middle version distribution[^]

PHP 5.2 is climbing steadily, thanks to the absence of PHP 5.3 version. PHP 4.4 is now getting close.
