To learn about methodology, read la section phpversion. 19 millions servers hosted on 2,2 millions IP were surveyed during December, and 9,2 were used for stats : domaines without web sites, those unreachable, ISP, shared hosters or domain parkings were not considered.

This graph shows PHP market share, on worldwide internet web sites.
PHP is found on 34,02% of web sites, stable from last month. PHP market share is stable.
PHP version distribution[^]
This graphic displays the market share of each PHP version. The blue graph represents
the sum of all preceding versions. PHP 4.4 and beyond represent now 56% of all PHP installations. When a PHP application supports PHP 4.3.9 and better, they are functionnal on more than 78% of all PHP installations.
PHP major version distribution[^]
This graphic represents the PHP major version distributions : 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
PHP 5 breaks the 13.1% barrier and PHP 4 is declining.
Besides PHP 4, all other major version is negligeable.
Retreating versions[^]
PHP 4/5 middle version distribution[^]
This graphic represents PHP middle version distribution for PHP 4 and 5.
PHP 4.4 keeps the lead over PHP 4.3, with over 5 %. PHP 5.1 is now twice as big as PHP 5.0. PHP 5.2 doesn't appear in the stats.
Increasing versions[^]
This graph present PHP version who gained web sites during December. For each version, we counted the number of web sites adopting a version, and abandoning it. Finally, we made the difference between the figures. This graph presents only versions who lost ground during the month. Figures are displayed as percentage of migration.
PHP 4.4.4 collected the most new versions, about three times PHP 5.2 or PHP 5.1.2. Considering only migration, PHP 5 is being adopted for 40% of new installation.
Attention : migration stats are pretty difficult to explain, given the high number of combinaison (origin version and destination version). The above figures are indicators,and in no way exact representations.
